Although it is on the world's lips, Porto Santo has not lost its charm or its peace and quiet. On the contrary. It seems that there are always new places to discover, new treasures that beckon explorers and seduce with the grandeur of nature.

One of these places is the Morenos site, an invitation to silence and contemplation, which starts with the dirt track you have to follow. Close to Zimbralinho Beach, with its turquoise waters, and the Miradouro das Flores, you can hear the island's pulse and feel the strength of its history. It is considered a secret jewel, as it is one of the places on the Golden Island with the least human impact.

The name refers to the reddish tones of the soils rich in ferromagnesian minerals, which give this little paradise its personality. The landscape is complemented by the whistling of the wind that dances between the trees and the singing of the birds that inhabit the area, making Morenos a haven of tranquillity.

The Picnic Park, one of the site's attractions, offers a public leisure area, ideal for socialising, with tables and benches. Protected by the gentle shade of the trees, this area also stands out for having a fountain built with rhizoconcretions, limestone formations that preserve roots and stems thousands of years old. This fountain distributes mineral water from Porto Santo, much appreciated for its benefits. Visitors and residents alike take the opportunity to fill containers with this gift from nature.

In addition to the serene environment, full of prickly pears and plants, the Morenos site has a rich geological history. Prismatic disjunctions, fossilised deposits and subaerial rocks tell how fire and water have shaped the island over millions of years. The calcified formations hold traces of ancient vegetation that existed around 30,000 years ago, offering a direct link to the island's remote past.

The landscape mixes the deep blue of the ocean, the golden colours of the sand and the warm tones of the volcanic soils. The colours and shapes of this place make it one of Porto Santo's most exotic settings.
