1811 Bistro & Wine Bar
Small and unpretentious. The 1811 fits the meaning of a bistro perfectly, but it is primarily a restaurant with daily suggestions from the chef and a menu of Portuguese and French dishes. Located in the historic Blandy's Madeira Wine Lodge cellars. The restaurant is also worth for its complete wine menu and the possibility of tasting good wines by the glass, accompanied by snacks.
A Gruta
A Gruta blends the idea of a café with a restaurant. The concept here is food for sharing, available in many servings, as well as traditional dishes from Madeira. And you can also enjoy an ice cream in our outdoor área.
A Morgadinha
Known for the uniqueness of its Goan delicacies, the dishes are based on family recipes. The restaurant features the typical atmosphere of Madeiran households, with windows overlooking the garden, and is decorated with attention to detail. Also on offer is a variety of proposals of international cuisine.
Akua
Fish and other foodstuffs from the sea predominate at Akua. Sitting at the heart of the Cathedral's historic area, the restaurant explores the concept of food sharing, blending flavours from different parts of the planet given a local touch, as well as ingredients. The signature cuisine is authored by Chef Júlio Pereira, and there is no shortage of artisanal bread.
Armzém do Sal
Named after the 200-year-old salt warehouse which it now occupies, this restaurant offers a contemporary cuisine with a strong sense of identity inspired by Portuguese gastronomy and the region of Madeira. The menu also features pastas and risottos, as well as vegetarian options.
Audax
This restaurant offers Madeiran flavours with contemporary cooking techniques, in what they call progressive Madeiran cuisine. It offers tasting menus with a variable number of dishes and a creative cuisine with lots of flavour.
Avista
Two concepts cohabitating within a single space: Mediterranean and Asian. Overlooking a ravine with a magnificent view of Funchal, the restaurant offers specialty dishes cooked via the josper system, as well as an Asian menu that offers much more than just sushi. The Avista is also a lounge where you can enjoy a drink or a snack.
Avista Ásia
It is a restaurant that offers a visit to various parts of Asia, with dishes from different countries and Madeiran products, in a true fusion, which also offers proposals that change with the season. It offers a panoramic view of the sea and the city of Funchal and tasting and à la carte menus.
Barqueiro
Cool and casual, here you can enjoy local snacks such as limpets, swordfish roe, and fresh lobster picked from the restaurant's aquarium as well as other seafoods. This restaurant also offers a wide array of dishes cooked with fresh fish.
Beef & Wines
This restaurant's star is meat, offering several meat types cooked in many different ways, a highlight being the picanha steak. But fish is not forsaken. The inspiration is Mediterranean. The wine list features about 200 brands, most served by the glass.
Beerhouse
Right by the entrance to the Port of Funchal, this restaurant makes its own beer, which can be sold in 'giraffes' or by the meter. Highlights from the menu include seafood or lobster bread stew with prawns, as well as steaks.
Brisa do Mar
A restaurant and a lounge. It operates on a terrace overlooking the sea. It serves Portuguese dishes with a Mediterranean twist and endeavours to work with fresh products, such as the meat or fish of the day, or the herbs grown at the Reid's, the Belmond Hotel where it is located.
Cantina El Mexicano

Grilled meats, on the Josper and beyond, are the mainstay of this restaurant, which offers customers the chance to choose the cut of meat straight from the cold rooms. The grilled meats are matured in-house. There is no wine list eit her, as the choice is made directly from the wine cellar.
Casa Madeirense
Casa Madeirense enjoys a solid reputation amongst visitors who seek local gastronomy served in a typical atmosphere. There is always fresh fish available, as well as live seafood, kept inside an aquarium. And the meat options, like the espetada, do not lag behind in terms of quality.
Casa Portuguesa

Cidade Velha
A classical and smooth restaurant in the Oldtown of Funchal, with a menu dominated by Portuguese food. Traffic is a faraway notion and the rooftop offers not only a view of the sea, but a sense of its fragrance. It is located by the walls of Forte de São Tiago.
Desarma
Awarded with a Michelin star, the restaurant proposes a battle of the senses. It promises to surprise the palates. Desarma is a signature restaurant, with cuisine at the highest level. There is the inescapable chef’s counter in the kitchen, and there are tasting menus as well as a complete wine list. Located on the rooftop of the Views Baía hotel, the space sports one of the best views over Funchal.
Design Centre Nini Andrade Silva
In the space of renowned interior designer Nini Andrade Silva, the Design Centre is a signature restaurant, with a contemporary and creative cuisine. It takes full advantage of the beauty of the space – a renovated 17th century fort, in the Port of Funchal.
Doca do Cavacas
Located in a picturesque building that brings to mind a small fortress and includes a cave, this restaurant overlooks natural pools, by the sea. It is famous for its fresh fish and seafood, with many servings available. There is an outdoor area from where you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of the sunset.
Galaxia Skyfood
The Savoy Palace's signature restaurant sits at the top of the hotel and sports a view of the bay of Funchal. Dishes here prime on creativity and communicate an experience that appeals to multiple senses, through colour, fragrance and palate. The space is shared with the Galáxia Skybar, with a cocktail menu.
Gastrobar at Reid’s Palace
At the emblematic tea terrace of the Belmond Reid's Palace, you can also enjoy dinner and take in the view of the bay of Funchal in a more casual atmosphere. It is one of the options of the Cocktail Bar, featuring a menu that includes some snacks and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. You can also enjoy live music and a selection of cocktails.
Gavião Novo
This is a small restaurant in the iconic Rua de Santa Maria which bets on the quality of its fish and seafood, not neglecting good meat. Highly sought by the local clientele at lunchtime and occasionally discovered by tourists, it features among its signature dishes limpets and grilled fresh parrotfish, as well as flambeed steaks dressed in Roquefort sauce.
Goya
Endowed with a classic atmosphere, and inspired by the best French restaurants, the Goya offers a classic cuisine, along French lines, but resorting to the best Portuguese products. The wine list bets on Portuguese brands.
Hamburgueria do Mercado
This is a space where modernity and tradition coexist. The offer consists of mostly burgers, for all tastes and in all sizes, paired with natural juices and homemade crisps, in a soothing atmosphere and with a menu that is constantly innovating and transforming itself.
Horta
This is a restaurant that focuses on sustainable, vegetable-based food. It is not vegetarian, but has vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as meat, fish and seafood delicacies, made with the Josper oven. There is also a bar where cocktails are served.
Il Basílico
This Italian à la carte restaurant offers a set of delicious flavours prepared with great quality and creativity. Enjoy the proximity to the sea and deep sense of tranquility that comes from being so close to the Lido bathing complex, in the Seaside Promenade of Funchal. There are also children's menus.
Il Gallo D'Oro
Awarded two Michelin stars, this is the perfect place for a romantic dinner for two. French chef Benoît Sinthon is renowned as one of the best on the island and offers a creative signature menu, with top-notch ingredients from each season.
Il Massimo
Located inside the Meliá Madeira Mare Hotel, this à la carte restaurant offers international cuisine. Featuring a modern décor and cozy atmosphere, it gives you the opportunity to dine inside the dining room or on a deck with a seaview.
Il Vivaldi
The Il Vivaldi offers the public a double concept. One the one hand, it is a Mediterranean restaurant. One the other, a barbeque place. Then there is the Terrace Bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or a drink from a wide array of beverages. The atmosphere is homely, yet classic and sophisticated in style.
Jaket Restaurante
In the vibrant Rua de Santa Maria, in the heart of Funchal's old town, Madeiran dishes and snacks are served in a place where tradition meets gastronomy. There are always fresh ingredients and local drinks such as poncha, Madeiran soft drinks and typical festival drinks.
Jin Garden
This gastropolo features three spaces: a terrace, an indoor space and a tropical garden. A menu of signature cocktails welcomes you. Japanese food dominates. And after dinner, the tables are cleared away so that the evening can take off to the sound of DJ music.
Joe's Casa de Jantar
In one of the old houses of Quinta da Penha de França, this restaurant offers a menu featuring regional, Portuguese and international cuisine. Kampo
This restaurant bets on products from the countryside and transforms them in a restaurant that is linked with a spirit of luxury. The signature cuisine of by Chef Jailo Ventura, who invests in proximity. At Kampo, the cuisine and home blend, bringing the experience of tasting closer to the experience of cooking.
L'Osteria

Loft - Brunch & Cocktails

This space is more than a Portuguese food restaurant with a modern touch. It is a market that sells quality Portuguese products, including wine. It is also a space where you can just snack, outside conventional meals.
Oxalis by Casa Velha do Palheiro
The only restaurant on the island associated with Relais & Chateaux. The Dining Room at Casa Velha Do Palheiro offers a pleasant dinner experience in an ambience of refinement. The gastronomy is predominantly Mediterranean and employs fresh products from Madeira.
William
Sporting a beautiful view of the Porto f Funchal, this is the Belmond Reid's Palace's signature hotel. Awarded one Michelin star, the restaurant offers a creative approach to European food, in a contemporary cuisine with the best products from Madeira and beyond. And there is a full-stocked wine cellar. The name is lent by William Reid, a Scottish visionary who immigrated to Madeira in search of fame and fortune and founded the hotel in the late 19th century.
