Sushi by the Sea returns to Cliff Bay

The sea, the late afternoon and sushi food are the combination proposed by the PortoBay group for this summer.

This year, the PortoBay group has decided to once again focus on a formula that is already familiar to Madeirans in terms of gastronomic experiences. It involves taking advantage of part of the sun terrace at The Cliff Bay to offer sushi dinners by the sea.

Sushi by the Sea is back, led by Chef Rui Pinto and the team of the Avista Asia restaurant. Together, they prepare a limited selection of sushi, designed to highlight the best of Japanese cuisine with a focus on quality, freshness and balance.

Creations such as moriawase sashimi, fish from the sea with sake sauce and smoked caviar, Iberian prey and kaffir lime crème brulée are served next to the hotel's pier, with views of the ocean and Pirates Bay and the aroma and sound of the sea. On Fridays and Saturdays, dinner is accompanied by a performance by DJ Michael Yang.

This year, Sushi by the Sea is open five times a week, from Thursday to Monday, between 7pm and 10pm. You can choose from the à la carte menu or the five-course tasting experience, for €70 per person (drinks not included).

Blue Lagoon at Night

Alongside Sushi by thye Sea, PortoBay is also launching another proposal, right next door, at the Blue Lagoon restaurant. The menu will be adapted from the dishes served at the Avista restaurant.

Every night, Chef João Luz and the Avista restaurant team will take over the Blue Lagoon kitchen to present an à la carte menu with a limited selection of classic creations from the Avista restaurant, such as: prawns à la guilho, salmon gravlax with passion fruit ponzu, scallops with seasonal risotto, aged veal tomahawk, and the iconic crème brûlée.

Both experiences stem from the desire to continue providing the local community and guests with the flavours of the Avista and Avista Asia restaurants, which are closed for renovation works following the fire that occurred at the beginning of June.
