Justino’s Madeira Wine was honoured by the Grandes Escolhas magazine with the Grandes Escolhas Trophy in the category of Best Fortified Wine Company. The acknowledgement took place at an event that highlighted “The Best of 2024” in the wine and gastronomy sectors.
The award was justified with the company's commitment to innovation while remaining a guardian of tradition, as well as the presentation “in the past year, of a collection of exceptional quality frasqueiras (special Madeira wine bottles).” The magazine acknowledged that Justino’s is “an old company with new blood.”
It all began in 1870 as a family business. Now part of the GRANVINHOS Group, it is currently the largest producer and exporter of Madeira wines. The Justino’s Madeira brand is one of the most internationally recognised names in Madeira wines. However, the company’s focus on innovation has led to the launch of new labels and ideas, both in fortified wines and still wines. Among these, Justino’s Projects stands out — a range of innovative releases that have advanced Madeiran DOP wines and introduced Madeira wines known for their elegance.
Future goals include closer collaboration with a greater number of winegrowers, the acquisition and/or leasing of vineyard land to ensure the purchase of quality grapes, and the production of distinctive wines. The highly functional winery, equipped with modern and high-quality equipment where environmental concerns are considered, ensures the continued excellence of the wines produced.
