A truly golden sand

Porto Santo beach once again invites you to enjoy a summer in full swing, on an island where a lot happens, in a destination for everyone: old, young and families.

It is almost a cliché to say that Porto Santo has one of the best beaches in Europe and that the carbonated golden sands have medicinal properties. The island promotes its 9 km of sand as one of its greatest assets and these properties are scientifically proven.

But here, I want to talk about sensations. The warmth of the sand on your feet, the softness of the grains that do not scratch but cut well, the very light golden colour, its tones, the result of the erosion of carbonated matter over millions of years. The beach is a sanctuary for rest and to recharge your batteries. The waters are emerald green and gently embrace the sand. Parents, even those with small children, can rest easy in the clear water, where children can play freely.

A walk along the sand, diving, water sports, or simply admiring the landscape or sunbathing, everything is prepared for a good experience. The beach is ready for summer. It is well-maintained, well-organized, and ready to host the holidays of thousands of visitors. And Porto Santo is increasingly establishing itself as a destination, a peaceful alternative that is neither overcrowded nor overpriced.

The services work, the restaurants are plentiful and varied, and they offer quality. The island has a dedicated workforce, most of which are foreign. There is no shortage of supplies and there are no problems with the functioning of the infrastructure. The island has been preparing itself and adapting to growth.

In the summer, the hotels are fully operational, and this year, with the addition of around 400 beds in a new hotel under one of the Marriott brands, which is set to open in July. Local accommodation is also an option and the offer is equally varied. There are several weekly connections from Lisbon and Porto and some operations from Europe. And the Lobo Marinho ferry connects Porto Santo to Madeira every day.

Even for those who cannot find accommodation at this time, Porto Santo Line offers a day cruise service, which allows visitors to Madeira to take a short break to Porto Santo and the magical sands of its beach.

With the festivities in honour of São João, which take place at the end of June, the high season is in full swing and Porto Santo is ready.
