On 9 March, on the eve of the Michelin Guide Portugal Gala, which this year takes place in Madeira, the restaurant AUDAX will host a special dinner to mark one of the most significant moments in the regional and national gastronomic calendar.

The event, entitled AUDAX × BARRO, brings together AUDAX’s Executive Chef, César Vieira, and Chef Carlos Casillas, from the restaurant Barro in Ávila. In 2024, Carlos Casillas was awarded both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star, becoming the youngest chef to receive these two distinctions simultaneously.

Regarded as one of the most prominent voices of the new generation of European gastronomy, Carlos Casillas has developed at Barro a cuisine rooted in local produce and the history of Ávila. His approach embraces his roots without filters, combining identity, sensitivity and contemporaneity. A philosophy that finds common ground with AUDAX’s own concept, where origin also serves as the starting point for a cuisine that challenges conventions and leads diners through intense experiences.

At the helm of the Madeiran restaurant’s kitchen is Chef César Vieira, responsible for the progressive culinary approach that has shaped AUDAX’s journey and strengthened its position within the region’s gastronomic landscape.

According to a press release issued by the restaurant, the dinner proposes “a dialogue between peripheral territories and contemporary cuisines that take territory, produce and local identity as their central axis, using innovation and irreverence to elevate the territories they represent”.

The dinner will take place on 9 March at 7.30 pm at AUDAX, located on Rua Imperatriz D. Amélia, in Funchal. The experience will consist of a six-course menu with wine pairing included, priced at €200 per person.

AUDAX is one of the restaurants in Madeira recommended by the Michelin Guide.
