The signature restaurant at the Les Suites at Cliff Bay hotel, Avista, has reopened to the public after being closed for nearly two months due to a fire that required renovations. It's not a double opening yet, as the Avista concept comprises two restaurants: the Mediterranean and Avista Asia, both recommended by the Michelin Guide. However, the Asian restaurant will remain closed for a while longer.

Those in charge promise to surprise with this return. Avista continues to be led by chef João Luz and features a menu of Mediterranean-inspired creations, featuring fresh Madeiran produce and plenty of produce from the PortoBay garden.

At Avista Asia, chef Rui Pinto leads the kitchen, in a space where always-fresh fish gives way to sushi and other Pan-Asian specialties, with a strong Japanese influence. For now, these specialties will continue to be enjoyed at Shusi By the Sea, by the sea, at The Cliff Bay.

Dinners at both restaurants feature tasting menus and à la carte options. Additionally, there's a wine list and a wine pairing guide for each dish.

Avista also boasts one of the best views of Funchal. It also features a lounge with a cocktail bar, where you can enjoy a late afternoon drink or a tea service.
