The Brisa do Mar restaurant, at Reid’s Palace in Funchal, will host a wine dinner on 10 April, bringing together contemporary gastronomy and biodynamic wines. The event will feature a four-course menu created by Chef Zélia Santos, paired with a selection of wines from Portuguese producer Júlia Kemper.
The gastronomic proposal includes Madeira-style ceviche, fish soup, pork cheek and, for dessert, a curd cheese and pumpkin mousse. Each dish will be accompanied by a carefully selected wine from the Dão region, in a pairing designed to enhance flavours and create a cohesive dining experience.
The wines showcased are part of Júlia Kemper’s production, recognised for continuing a family legacy spanning several centuries and for its commitment to organic and biodynamic practices. Her wines are frequently noted for their elegance and clear expression of the Dão terroir, earning recognition both nationally and internationally.
The programme begins at 7:30 pm with a welcome cocktail and canapés, followed by dinner at 8:00 pm. The evening will also feature live music in an intimate setting, with Funchal Bay as a backdrop. The price is €115 per person, and advance booking is recommended due to limited availability.
Brisa do Mar is part of the historic Reid’s Palace, a landmark hotel in Madeira known for its culinary offering and privileged Atlantic-facing location. The restaurant operates seasonally, opening in spring and summer, and offers sweeping sea views. It stands out for its cuisine inspired by local and seasonal produce, combining contemporary techniques with Madeiran tradition.
