The Onda Azul restaurant, located next to Calheta beach, in the Calheta Beach hotel, celebrates its 36th anniversary on July 1st with a celebratory menu for lunch and dinner, which will be served exclusively on that day. Some of the most emblematic dishes from the restaurant's history will be revived.

The gastronomic proposal is signed by Nélio Rodrigues, the restaurant's chef since 2013, and combines tradition and creativity, in a tribute to the recipes that have won over customers over the years.

The starters include the smoked salmon salad, the bruschetta in bolo-do-caco and the shrimp in Madeira wine. The fish soup, a house classic, is also a hot option. Among the main dishes, the highlights are the scabbard roll with onions, the shrimp, squid and scabbard skewer, and the squid sautéed with boiled potatoes. For those who prefer meat, there is chicken leg stuffed with alheira sausage and pepper steak.

Finally, the restaurant offers dessert as a special treat to its customers on this date, with suggestions such sugarcane biscuits tiramisu and Madeira wine, apple pie with vanilla ice cream, passion fruit mousse or chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream.

Dinner will also feature live music by the duo Carlota and Francisco, between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Onda Azul opened its doors on 1 July 1989 and has established itself as one of the best-known restaurants in Calheta and the entire western part of Madeira. It has recently been renovated, with an atmosphere inspired by the surrounding area and its connection with the sea.
