O Recante, located in the fishing village of Caniçal, will hold a special gastronomic event on 2 May dedicated to the traditional Portuguese cozido, inviting customers, friends and families to gather around the table for a moment of celebration and sharing. After organising a series of cozido events last year featuring cured meats from various regions of the country, the restaurant is now opting for a single edition, focusing on the authenticity and quality of its ingredients.

The choice has fallen on the region of Montalegre, renowned for the iconic Cozido Barrosão. Chef Eusébio Nunes has carefully selected a range of traditional smoked and cured meats, including various types of sausages and pork cuts. The vegetables used will come from the western part of Madeira Island, supplied by a local producer, reinforcing the commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Opened in 2024, O Recante has stood out for its blend of tradition and innovation, offering contemporary Portuguese cuisine with a strong emphasis on fresh fish and seafood, while also featuring meat dishes and creative options. This initiative follows that same approach, highlighting traditional Portuguese recipes made with high-quality produce.

The event is priced at 30 euros per person and will take place in two sittings, from 12:00 to 14:15 and from 14:30 to 17:00. Advance booking is required and can be made by calling +351 291 960 204. The organisers believe this will be another opportunity to establish the restaurant as a benchmark in promoting Portuguese gastronomy, combining quality, authenticity and convivial dining.
