The Art of Flavours festival returns to Reid’s Palace, A Belmond Hotel, for its seventh edition, consolidating its status as one of the highlights of Madeira’s annual gastronomic calendar. The initiative once again showcases the creativity, technique and passion of Portuguese cuisine, bringing together some of the country’s most prestigious chefs alongside promising new talents in the sector.

The 2026 edition marks the debut of Osvalde Strange Silva, the hotel’s Executive Chef, and Francisco Avalada, head of the William Restaurant, awarded one Michelin star, as hosts of the event. Together, on 12 and 13 June, they will welcome a group of guest chefs forming a true gastronomic “constellation”.

The first confirmed name is Afonso Dantas, from A Cozinha do Paço in Alentejo, recently awarded one Michelin star and a Green Star, and also a recent recipient of a Repsol Sun. Originally from Madeira, the chef returns to the region to take part in the dinner on 12 June and the gastronomic celebration the following day, where he will present some of his creations.

The programme maintains the structure of previous years. It begins on 12 June with the Stars Dinner at the William Restaurant, where an exclusive menu will be served, created collaboratively by all the guest chefs. Each dish will bear the signature of one of them and will be paired with Portuguese wines.

On 13 June, the event continues with the open-air Food Party, once again bringing together Michelin-starred chefs, alongside emerging talents, the Reid’s Palace culinary team, and various partners and premium brands. With more than 20 stands, the experience offers a diverse gastronomic journey, ranging from champagne to fine patisserie.

The closing will take place by the hotel’s swimming pools, overlooking Funchal Bay, culminating in the pyromusical show of the Atlantic Festival.

Created with the aim of celebrating Portuguese haute cuisine in a relaxed setting, The Art of Flavours has, over its previous editions, established itself as a platform for bringing together renowned chefs and young talents from both Portuguese and international gastronomy. Since its first edition, the event has brought notable names in gastronomy to Madeira, promoting the sharing of knowledge, the appreciation of local produce, and culinary innovation.

The Stars Dinner takes place on 12 June at 7:00 pm, priced at €250 per person. The Food Party follows on 13 June at 7:30 pm, priced at €180. There is also the option to purchase a combined ticket for both experiences at €400. Special prices are valid until 30 April, after which they will be updated.

Reservations can be made online, via email at restaurants.rds@belmond.com, or by telephone on +351 291 717 011.
